GETTING TO MELBOURNE
FLIGHTS
Melbourne Airport is VIC’s major aviation gateway and the first point of contact for many visitors to the State. The airport is serviced by around 30 international airlines and is just a 25 minute drive from the city. Qantas, Virgin Australia and Jetstar are the major domestic carriers which run services from Australia’s major cities.
TO AND FROM TULLAMARINE
Melbourne Airport can be easily reached by car, taxi or bus.

- Taxis are readily available outside the terminal and a trip to the city will cost around AUD$60
- Skybus provides direct airport bus services to the city and back again. Buses run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every 10-15 minutes in the day and every 30-60 minutes at night. Buy Skybus tickets at the Airport or online.
GETTING AROUND
TAXI & RIDESHARE INFO
Melbourne taxis are easy to spot. Cabs often wait in designated cab ranks at clearly signposted locations and busy spots such as Flinders Street Station. You may also hail a taxi in the street. If the rooftop lamp is lit, the taxi is usually unoccupied and available for hire. Telephone bookings are also available. The main taxi service providers in Victoria are 13CABS, Silver Top Taxis, Crown Cabs, and Silver Service Taxis.
Rideshare trips with the Uber app are popular in Melbourne. Payment is cashless, as you set your billing details with a credit card after you install the app. Check out these popular options too; Ola, Didi and Shebah (all-women rideshare).
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
myki is Melbourne’s ticket to travel on the city’s trains, trams and buses. It’s a plastic smartcard with stored value which can be topped up and re-used again. is Melbourne’s public transport system, providing locals and visitors cost effective and efficient travel throughout the city and the greater metropolitan area. Iconic Laneways and Arcades – Wandering through the city’s mosaic arcades and art-filled laneways might be the ultimate way to see Melbourne on foot. Here’s where to find the hole-in-the-wall cafes, secret shops, tiny wine bars and iconic restaurants of the small streets.
